AFK Furniture (Art for Kids) Shipping & Returns Information

Furniture Shipping / Deliveries
Shipping time for freight items is approximately 2-3 weeks from the time that the items are picked up from our warehouse.

Ground Delivery
Smaller items such as accessories, prints, and fabrics, can be shipped using regular Fedex Ground or UPS Ground. Items that can be shipped via ground delivery will have a fixed delivery charged based on the item. In addition there are expedited service (next day or second day) for small packages that will incur additional shipping charges. Please contact our customer service for pricing information.

Standard Curbside Freight Delivery
After the furniture is thoroughly packed, it is shipped via less-than-truckload (LTL) common carrier. Once the shipment arrives to the destination terminal, the trucking company will call the receiving customer to let them know it has arrived and schedule a delivery window. The LTL common carrier will use a 28' or 48' tractor trailer unit to make delivery. The delivery will be made with one driver and the trailer will not have a lift gate. The customer must have someone on hand at delivery to provide assistance to the driver during unloading. Customer agrees to provide adequate assistance to the delivery driver during unloading at the curb of Customer's home. Additional people may be required depending on the size of the order being delivered. It is the customer's responsibility to take the furniture inside the home. It is Customer's responsibility to un-package the furniture items. It is the Customer’s responsibility to discard of any packing material. Extra charges will apply if the customer requests to have the shipment carried inside the home.

After unloading and before the driver leaves, the customer should inspect the furniture for damage. Product damage is rare, however, if damage is found, the customer should note the damage in the appropriate box on the Delivery Receipt (provided by the driver) and then sign. The customer needs to keep all packing material for the claims process. Contact AFK (Art for Kids) immediately and a claim will be filed. Note: If there are any tears, indentations or holes on the exterior of the package, but no damage is found, the customer should still note on the Delivery Receipt that the packaging contained holes and/or tears.

The delivery time for the Curbside Delivery method is typically 10 - 14 business days, but can run longer for some areas. This delivery method is less expensive than the Premium In-Home Freight Deliver.

Standard Curbside Freight Delivery Charges

Premium In-Home Freight Delivery
Premium in-home delivery is available for most items if you would like the item placed inside the threshold of your home or in a particular room with all packing materials discarded.
When furniture is shipped to a customer for inside delivery with set up, a specialty carrier will perform the delivery to the customer's home with two men. Once the shipment arrives to the destination terminal, the trucking company will call the receiving customer to let them know it has arrived and schedule a delivery window. The carrier will deliver the furniture in a 45' or 48' tractor trailer unit. The delivery will be made with two men and the trailer will have a ramp and/or lift gate. The two men will carry the furniture to the room(s) requested and set up the furniture (i.e., assemble beds, place hutch tops on hutch bases, etc.).

Delivery Schedule

Most carriers schedule deliveries Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Freight companies will contact you at least 48 hours prior to the delivery to schedule a delivery date and time frame (typically 2-4 hour blocks).

If you need to reschedule the delivery with our carrier, please contact them as soon as possible so as not to incur any charges for missed delivery appointments. If your scheduled appointment is missed, you will be charged a delivery trip fee. Please do not arrange for the item/items to be delivered when no one is home to receive them.

If the freight company contacts you to make an appointment for delivery and you are unable to accept the delivery for any period of time, you are subject to storage fees that the freight company will charge for storing your item.

In case where the ship to address is not accessible by regular delivery truck, the customer will be responsible for all additional delivery charges. Please contact us if there are any special delivery requirements that must be taken for the item to reach the final destination.


Carrier-Damage Claims
All claims for damages in transit must be handled between the customer and the carrier. However, we will offer reasonable assistance in settling claims. Please make comments of any damaged product on your Bill of Lading at the time of delivery and file the claim directly with the carrier. We are not accountable for freight damages discovered after the delivery has been made

What to do at Time of Delivery
Take the time to carefully inspect all furniture items shipped, look for any damage that might have occurred in transit. Please make note on your Bill of Lading of all damages at the time of delivery and contact us immediately. Claims against damaged items must be made within 5 days. Claims made after 5 days cannot be accepted.

How to Make Shipping Damage Claim


1. Premium In-Home Freight Delivery
a. Inspect all furniture items upon delivery while the freight company is still at the delivery site.
a. Make note of all damage on your Bill of Lading (shipping documents).
b. Take photos of the damage and of the packing material.
c. Contact us immediately 800-700-6547. Send photos and a written description of the damage to us. Claims against damaged items must be made within 5 days. Claims made after 5 days cannot be accepted.


2. Standard Curbside Freight Delivery
a. If you are there at the time of delivery, inspect all furniture items upon delivery while the freight company is still at the delivery site. Make note of all damage on your Bill of Lading (shipping documents). Take photos of the damage and of the packing material. Contact us immediately 800-700-6547. Send photos and a written description of the damage to us. Claims against damaged items must be made within 5 days. Claims made after 5 days cannot be accepted.
b. If you are not there at the time of delivery or are not able to inspect all item before the delivery company leaves, inspect all furniture items to the fullest. Make note of all damage on your Bill of Lading (shipping documents) that you are able to see. Take photos of the damage and of the packing material. Contact us immediately 800-700-6547. Send photos and a written description of the damage to us. Claims against damaged items must be made within 5 days. Claims made after 5 days cannot be accepted.

If the damage is minor, you may accept delivery with the damage noted on the bill of lading. Depending on the situation, either a touch up kit will be sent to you or a professional furniture medic will be arranged to repair the damage. If you choose to accept a damaged item, please retain all packaging to assist in the claim with the freight company.

If the damage is major, you may refuse delivery. The freight company reserves the right to have the piece brought back to us for repair/rebuild. If the freight carrier determines the piece cannot be repaired, another piece shipped out to you as soon as possible.

We will be unable to assist you in the repair or replacement of damaged goods if the above procedures are not followed.

Returns
• Customized, Personalized and Special Order items are not returnable or refundable.
• No merchandise will be accepted for return, exchange, credit or repair without a written return authorization from our factory.
• We regret that we cannot accept returns after 30 days for any reason.
• If you would like to exchange or return an item purchased in the last 30 days, you will need to request a Return Authorization (RA) number. You need to contact our offices and provide the required information. We will review the information and provide an RA number and instructions for returning the item.
• Items must be returned in their original packaging in unused condition. Soiled/used items will be refused and returned to you at your expense.
• Refunds are issued in the original payment form and price, less original shipping and handling and re-stocking fees.
• If for any reason you need to return an item that included free shipping, the refund you receive will be for the item price minus our standard shipping cost. 
• The only exception to this policy is if an item received is defective, in which case it will be replaced with no additional shipping fees.

Changes to Shipping & Returns Information
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace this Shipping & Returns Information by posting the updated terms on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Shipping & Returns Information.
